Please STOP making links open in a new window! I know how to do it, so if I want to, I will. Kthx. All links on this site open in the same window. If you want them to open in a new window/tab, simply right click and select that option. If you find one here that does open in a new window, let me know and I’ll fix it.
Actually, let me throw this open to you guys. What do you prefer? Links automatically open in a new window/tab or in the same window/tab?
Further update: So as you can see, I’ve added the option to the left there. If you want links to open in a new tab/window select the box. If not, leave it unchecked. Thanks to Randomwalks for the code and Scotusblog for inspiration.

Sorry folks, posting may be rather slow for a day or so. I’m having some internet issues.

I’m adding a new feature today, one that I’ve wanted to for a long time. Since this is still my personal blog, and there are stories of interest out there that are not law-related, I’ve created a category called asides, wherein I will post links to stuff that interests me. Right now, you can tell that it’s an aside, because it does not have any formatting and looks pretty ugly. I’m going to try and get the CSS tweaked so it looks different, but no guarantees. You can still leave comments. The entry below is an example of an aside.

Scott, Dan Hull and Kevin have been talking up the need for us blawgers in the US to be more social. So I’m taking it to heart. Here’s a brand new blog, written by an old hand.
Norm Pattis has started “Stupid Prosecution Tricks“. He explains his reasoning here. Give Norm some extra love and don’t forget to add the link to your blogroll and reader.
(See! That’s how it’s done. FOUR links in the same post. I am so cool. I better get some link love in return.)

Stay tuned, dear readers, for there are some big changes coming to this blog in the very near future. I can’t tell you as of yet what these changes are or when they’re going to happen, but I can tell you that they are big and will happen soon. Stay tuned!

As this blog has grown, I have asked you to indulge me at times by answering silly questions in polls. Here’s another one; albeit a little more important. The answers to this question might shape the direction this blog takes in the coming months and will definitely help inform me about what I should and shouldn’t blog about. Readership is important and I want to get a sense of what my target audience is. The last time I asked, 35 of the responders told me they were from CT.
So if you’ll indulge me, the poll is below and will be in the sidebar for a while to come, so please vote.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

The next comment will be the 2,000th legitimate comment on this blog. Thanks for making it fun for all of us! The winner gets nothing.
Update: Thought you might like to know that this software has caught 20,242 spam comments. Imagine! Legitimate comments are 9% of the total comments I get. Yikes.

Well, I don’t know what happened here yesterday. Something about the server and some maintenance or something. Gobbledygook. Anyway, we’re back and running. Thanks for sticking with us.

At least until mid-week. Rather busy here in Gideon-land, so I apologize. I’ll still try to have the jumpstart up tomorrow.

I added two new small, but useful, features earlier today. At the top of each post, both here and on an individual post page, you will now find two icons: Print and E-mail. Clicking on print takes you to a printable version of the post and clicking on E-mail will launch a pop-up window that will enable you to e-mail the post to someone.
Of course, e-mailing a post has always been a feature through “Share This”, the feature at the end of every post. Through “Share This” you can also share a post using any of the social networking websites (Technorati, Digg, delicious, stumble) and e-mail.
Enjoy
