The plotline for this case wasn't about the defendant, the victim, or even the witness. It was about the prosecutors, and what they did to prevent a defense witness from testifying. To drive that home, the writers have to show the audience how important his testimony is. Also, audiences love an underdog, but they also love a winner. Jerry's going to pull some rabbits out of his hat. I liked this episode a lot more too.
