This is an obvious case of the government leaving citizens out to dry. Protecting citizens and all people is important, but rather than take a stand the government is trying to walk the middle road, which pleases no one.

yeah I’m a little confused, how were these card supposed to help protect them. And why can’t immigrants keep their money at home as opposed to “carrying around large sums of cash.” Can someone please expound.

I was using shorthand for illegal entry and re-entry, both of which are Federal offenses.

I would have expected more precision from you on this point, Gideon. Illegal immigration is definitely not a criminal defense . . . if it were, those who have been detained by ICE would probably be better off because they could claim the right to representation by an attorney, something that is routinely denied to those who have to appear in immigration court.
