Piercing the blogging veil
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
So, despite my best half-hearted attempts to conceal my identity, it has come to my attention that a growing number of you know who I am. My initial reaction was to go the Audacity route and just shut down. But I’m not going to do that. Frankly, because I enjoy this too much and I really don’t say anything here that I wouldn’t say to you in person. If you know me and think that I’m an idiot, then my work here is done.
I do have two requests, though. If you refer the blog to other pds or attorneys in CT, try not to refer to it by my real name. Second- and more important - what the heck are you people doing reading but not commenting? C’mon folks - start getting involved! There are plenty of you that know more about some of this stuff than I do. So chime in. Don’t leave me looking like a fool. That’s my job.
Otherwise I’ll be forced to send you all e-mails.
Thanks for reading
For those of you who don’t know me, but are curious nonetheless, this is what I look like:
The photo has been updated. Now you’re all confused because you don’t know which one I am. HAH!
No, seriously, that’s my mortal enemy. This is me:
That’s Miranda in the background.

Whew. That would have been a loss. Since I don’t know who you really are—I’m going to have to start investigating—I don’t know what
you have to fear about being exposed, but I’m glad to hear you decided to stick it out.
I don’t know that there’s anything to fear. It’s just uncomfortable knowing that a growing number of people who work with me (and are far more experienced) are reading this.
Really? There are people you work with who are more experienced than you, Lord Gideon? I am simply aghast by the mere thought…
I feel so left out.
Saucy: Yes. Both in my immediate office and obviously division wide. Now, stop it or I’ll out you too :p
Anne: Whatfor?
Won’t they definitely know who you are now? I mean, I’m just a law student, but how many robot PDs are there?
You’re right. I should change that picture. It’s not me, actually. It’s my sworn enemy - the Daleks. The last one alive in the universe, actually.
Lord Gideon reigns supreme.
::bows::
Now you’re pissing me off :-p
Actually, I’m IN Connecticut and I have no idea who you are. For all we know, you’re actually a prosecutor at heart. Come out to the world!
On second thought, you’ve got a good thing going….Keep it up.
Actually, someone outted you to me after I sent you the email inquiring as to your secret identity. Kinda creepy actually, since no one but you knew that I had asked. Left me in awe of your psychic powers actually.
Hey, I was impressed when I found out who you really were. Of course that could be because I’ve never actually spoken to you…;)
NolleQueen…
So, do you, like, hand ‘em out? Or get ‘em. Nolles, that is.
(I’ll refrain from kissing Lord Gideon’s feet, as it seems to piss him off.
)
NolleQueen: You’re going to have to tell me who outed me. Send me an e-mail. Also, I’m pretty sure that any favorable impression you have of me will almost certainly disappear upon meeting me in person. Just ask the SaucyVixen or Miranda. No one listens to me in the office.
SaucyVixen: You’re on your own tomorrow.
I’m really Gideon. I mean, Gideon’s really me. And I’m not SaucyVixen, just in case my wife is checking these comments.
I understand the whole fear thing. I was outed in a major way and I don’t know how it happened. Either I got careless online somehow or someone with an axe to grind did it. It’s definitely had a chilling effect. Although, since no one ever read my blog, it’s not a great loss. Another blogger I know of (who had a fairly good readership) went off the air after being outed. In that case, word reached the blogger the governmental “powers that be” were upset about critical statements in the blog.
Which is why I don’t write about my job specifically or the people I work with or my bosses or their bosses. Not that I have anything critical to say, but if someone did, it would be quite stupid of them to write about it on a semi-anonymous blog.
Well, I never thought of myself as being stupid, but I take your point. I got careless either in the cybersphere or trusted someone I shouldn’t have. The problem is trying to write about local issues without irritating someone. As I was told years ago, all education is expensive…
Sorry, didn’t mean for it to come across that way. I guess I’ve seen plenty of careers ruined because of blogs and unyielding bosses, that by now, I have no idea why anyone would do it.
Sorry it made things bad for you.
No worries. I appreciate you saying that. You do make a good point. I just wish I hadn’t been such a newbie when I started my blog. And I haven’t been harassed or criticized or had any feedback after the outting. I don’t know anyone who knows me has seen the spot where I’m ID’d, but knowing one’s name is out there is pretty creepy. I’ll shut up now. Love your blog and we all appreciate you managing PD Stuff. That’s as close as I’ll come to kissing your feet, Lord Gideon. Heh.
Thanks and thanks for reading
