CT’s death row might have inmate number 10 very soon. A jury today recommended that Lazale Ashby receive the death penalty. Judge Espinosa will decide on Monday whether to formally enter the verdict of death.

Interestingly, just two days ago, the jury said they were deadlocked.

Could not have happened to a more deserving young man. During the trial his writting showed he had no remorse for his actions almost 6 years later. He actual stated how grattified he was seeing the crime scene pictures and comment “I did a god job!” Go ahead and defend him now. My job is done. He will never kill anyone else and I can sleep soundly at night with the actions I took to bring this man to justice.

Is it really you Sgt Weaver? Describe yourself so I know it’s you. I was on the jury so I will know.
I agree with you 100% obviously since we did give him the death penalty. I think the fact that he attacked a guard within a month of getting put on death row pretty much proved that point. I didn’t hear about the multiple sexual assault victims though. How come we didn’t hear about those?

So how would that be any less true if he were sentenced to life in prison?

We considered this in our deliberation, but ultimately decided he would be a danger to other prisoners. As it is he’s a danger to guards. He attacked one soon after getting on death row. I sleep like a baby at night.

Some People need to be put to death. THis man is one of them. I sleep soundly knowing that. You one the other hand worry about people such as Ashby and think his rights are being violated. I think he lost his rights when he got convicted and we should put him down. I don’t care how it is done. I just hope it comes quickly for the victims family so they are not violated and wounded over and over again for years to come. It would be better to make the jury’s sentence happen sooner rather than later. I think the death penalty is 100 percent effective. The public is assured 100 percent that after the sentence is carried out they will not have to worry about this criminal hurt anyone. That includes other inmates, Dept. of Corrections staff, or anyone else. So yes it is different. I would, and the jury, and the victims (2 murders and over 30 sexual asault victims) would sleep much better at night with out him stealing oxygen any longer. Step up to the plate and stop standing up for these losers. He was convicted on DNA and on his own admissions and boasting. If you want to defend him go ahead. I just think it is a waist of your time. He took a young mothers life and that debt needs to be paid by him. Only one way I can see that being done.

The death penalty is not a deterrent, it’s merely vengeance. As the victim of a violent crime, I would feel no safer if the assailant was killed; I would feel safer if our state and country invested more into front-end programs to PREVENT crime! More death is not the answer; more blood does not wash away blood.

I WOULD GIVE HIM WHAT HE GOT. RAPE HIM FIRST, THEN MURDER HIM! AN EYE FOR AN EYE! IF YOU WERE ELIZABETH, I’M SURE YOU’D AGREE. SICKO. SIX YEARS LATER ACTING LIKE THE SAME PIG HE WILL ALWAYS BE.

I HOPE THEY GET HIM GOOD IN JAIL!
