If I recall correctly, registrants are barred from staying in homeless shelters (as well as hurricane shelters) in Florida.

Our legislature decided (despite some fairly compelling opposition) that we no longer needed to evaluate the risk level of our sex offenders; they were all going to register and all have their pictures on the website and notifications were going out. So your 18 year old boy is the same as your serial pedophile. I anticipate our housing/homeless problems will be starting shortly after July 1.

In Georgia, you’re not allowed to be “homeless” under the new statute – so if you don’t have a place to live (perhaps because the guidelines are too strict) – you’ll be re-arrested for failing to register, which carries a minimum of 10 years for a first offense and LIFE for a second offense.
