Milford CT prosecutor Mark Hurley admitted through his attorney that he had embezzled between $18000 and $21000 over the last 18 months from the state prosecutor’s union.

Hurley would write checks on the union’s account for certain expenses and then credit the expenditures to certain vendors. He would then endorse the checks himself and deposit the money in his bank account.

He is also under investigation for embezzling money intended for the crime victims fund.

Hurley allegedly accepted checks from criminal defendants meant as restitution for crime victims and deposited the money in his own bank account, according to sources within the Division of Criminal Justice who did not want to be identified.

The amount of money taken is estimated to be more than $5,000, the sources said.

Tolland State’s Attorney Matt Gedansky is in charge of the investigation. There are no charges yet.
